Help with strange computer problem!

So I have this software for recording music called Sony ACID Pro 7. I'm trying to get it to recognize several plugins I recently installed. It refuses to scan certain folders so I set it to scan my entire C Drive. This was a mistake. I can't even open ACID without it starting the scan and crashing everytime it reaches a certain plugin. I've tried reinstalling, system restoring and even running ACID from an external HD, but every time ACID starts to boot, it freezes at the same spot every time.

When I start ACID from my external HD on a different PC it opens without any problems. It just refuses to work on my computer. Any ideas anyone? I really need this issue solved. Thanks!

Then it seems to be an issue with one of the plugs you installed. Try pulling out one at a time from the VST Plugins folder until you find the problem causer. Different vst's can have issues on different systems. Especially free ones. Find the bastard that is giving you hell, then find another to replace it.

Its because you have told ACID to scan your entire C drive and so it is attempting load every DLL file on your computer (and there are tens of thousands of them, most of which have nothing to do with audio or plugins) into ACID which is causing it to lock up.
I made that mistake once too and you need to do this to correct the issue and reset ACID to only look in the VST folder

First make sure all of your pluginas are in the VST folder (usually in the prgram files folder)

Then:
You need to find this file:

acidpro.plugincache

It's an XML file and is hidden so you may need to enable viewing of hidden folders/files in your search parameters

you can usually find it like this

open mycomputer folder

Click: Tools-> Folder Options -> view (tab at the top)
Select/Check: Display the Contents of System Folder
Select: Show Hidden files and folder
Click: Apply

Close the dialogue box

Now go back to the my computer folder

Click: C -> Documents & settings -> select the active user profile (not administrator but whatever your user is) -> Local Settings -> Application Data -> Sony -> Acid Pro -> 7.0

in that final folder is where acidpro.plugincache is located

once found delete it. This is basically the information that tells ACID what plugins are there and it stays in your system even if you delete and reinstall ACID which is why you sometimes end up with duplicates etc as it keeps getting added to and a reintsall of ACID doesn't fix it.

Now restart ACID. Since it can no longer find acidpro.plugincache it will rescan c:\Program Files\VSTPlugIns and totally refresh the plugin lists and create a new acidpro.plugincache with all the current details

That worked man. Thanks a lot. Maybe you can help me with my other problem. The plugins i'm using are Native Instruments Komplete 8. I want to use them all in ACID. After I get ACID to scan all my plugin folders it puts several of the plugins in the failed folder. I don't know how to fix this. I really want to use Guitar Rig in ACID, but it "fails."
