help with scratch tracking

4 piece band.......2 guitars, bass, and drums. What is the best way to get decent scratch tracks for the drummer to go off of? I was thinking, let them play their songs and mic only the guitars along with a click track.......should that be cool? Suggestions welcome please.
 
A more common way (certainly not the only way) is to record the drums while everybody else plays along. Then you can have the guitars and bass record to the drums and a click, or just the drums. I guess this would not work unless you could isolate the amps so they didn't bleed all over the drum tracks. Hope this helpeda bit

If the guitars are just scratch tracks you could go direct into the board (via sans amps or DI boxes) with them and then re-record them through their amps later.
