hello all just a few questions;

Can I use an ordinary monitor extension cable for the detachable control? If so what is the maximum length I can extend it to?

Could I use a generic footswitch for punching in and out remotely? If so do you know where I could find one?

My questions answered? If so you are my friend?

"oooh, ohh la la piong dump ma shniop flum deshap muk" Eurosong 2008 happy happy talk :confused:

man no replies, well what can I say, aren't I the popular one :eek:

I found an old sound on sound article reviewing the D90, it said that by using many of the extension cords the remote control can be extended to up to 10 meters, why couldn't it just say that in the manual? :confused: I've bought a 10m extension off ebay, I'll check to see if the cores match up, if they don't I'll modify the lead, hopefully it wont blow my face off when I plug it in.

Well I'll keep posting my progress so that I may be able to at least help another (even though noone is bothering to help me) I still haven't found anything out about the footswitch.

Brian,

I run a standard but good quality computer 5 metre extension cable on my D160 without any problems and have considered adding a second.

The Fostex footswitch packaging had the circuit diagram on the back but it was thrown out a few years ago, however, I'm sure it was a standard configuration as I remember thinking at the time that I could have made one if I'd only known. One thing to remember..........only plug and unplug the footswitch when the unit is turned off.

Cheers

Good news, the 10m extension hasn't caused any problems. Means I don't have to run back and forth between control room & live room when recording :cool:

Glad to hear 10 meter works fine. I've got a 3ft/1 meter that works great. I've been tempted to go longer. The only issue is that the screws don't line up, so occasionally I get a disconnect if I'm not being careful and move the controller too far.
