Im totally confused on what should I get,,, I'm going to study recording at an institute,, and I want to have a mixer to practice with local bands ,,,,, If I start to study I wont be able to buy a mixer so I have to decide now,,, I want something capable of recording at least 16 channels or more,,,

From here my problem start,, as I'm a total newbie I don't know what should I get ,,, since I want a mixer that I can use about 3 years to 5 years till i can afford the money to upgrade my gear into a more professional stuff,,,

First of all, If I get an analog mixer,, what mixer is recommended to start in a more professional way? what else should I get to record any project? (except microphones any devise needed) What are the most common options? (not thinking about the prize, but having quality products)

If I get an analog mixer with a firewire port to record projects on PC like SONAR 6 (the one I have) does match professional standards?or its best only for home studio purposes?

Please help me

As I said no worries about budget if I can get some quality,,, if I have to say something,,, starting from 1000 to 2000 range for mixer,,, (or even more,,, I don't know the possibilities,,,, )

learn how to use this stuff before you dump a couple G's in it.

then you think should I get something cheap before? ,,, I know my question doesn't sound so smart,,, but I'm a totally noob :(,,,,,,,,,, so,,, what you recomend me? I was thinking on the Alesis multimix 16 firewire, Edirol FA-101, Mackie 400f, Soundcraft EPM12, Yamaha MG16/6FX,,,,,,,,, if it's something cheap I can afford right away,,,,

to start off with... what do you already have? Cause there is no point spending all your money on a mixer if you have no mics or cabling to go with it.

nah,, I just have two mics (one condenser and one dynamic) ,,, my problem it's not about the money,, since I have a regular job here in Japan,,, my problem is I don't know what to buy first,, what type of mixer etc.. but I have a goal, during this year I want to be able to record a band in a studio (there are many studios here in Japan in different ranges) with my equipment before I go to study recording,,, and also with the same equipment be able to do more and more practices with local bands and friend bands while I'm studing,,,,,

Ps: perhaps, I have Sonar 6 running on my PC if it helps as refference!
