Hey guys, I came across this forum in my google searches, hoping I could get some help. I bought a last gen Maschine this past fall and it has never worked properly. I kinda ignored it for awhile, but now I want to start really using this thing. Pretty much the problem is my Maschine program won't give audio output 9 times out of 10. I've noticed that when I've opened Itunes before opening the program it causes the issue. Even after I close Itunes it still won't play audio, but if I restart my computer and never open Itunes it will work just fine. Also, the Machine works perfectly fine through Ableton, though its the only DAW I've tried it in. I have the audio drivers downloaded and it's setup correctly in my preferences based on what I've found through various searches. I would like it to be able to run by itself so I can practice with just my machine and its software, you really can't have much flow running it through Ableton.

I'm using Windows 7 and on a HP desktop thats a few years old (not sure the model info, will edit in once I figure it out).

Figured I'd start here, maybe make a post in the NI forum, but it never seems helpful.

Motu MK1?

You have to have some software to run it through. If you load up Ableton and just take a track in Ableton, map what channel you are hooked up(turn on the I/O so you can see it), set the monitor on to either Auto or In (If Auto you have to hit the arm button) then it will pass through the signal just fine without recording.

Done.

Bah I figured it might not of been called the MK1. Might have to remake this thread cause autocorrect turned Maschine in machine in title.

I was actually talking about the last gen maschine. Black box with light up orange pads.

Fixed that for ya. :)

I have the MK2 and honestly, I have not been able to mess with it much yet. I would however suggest that you always have it connected when you start Windows. Also, Itunes is something I would consider 'EVIL' on PC period. I have always had issues with it. I have uninstalled it long ago.

When you get everything figured out, please start giving tutorials on this thing! :)

Also, what are you using for soundcard? It could well be that there is another application (like the evil Itunes) that is stealing the use of the soundcard.

I personally would take Itunes out of the equation, or at least stop it from starting on Windows Startup.

Thanks so much for that! I'll definitely have to try having the maschine plugged in on start up. I don't have iTunes open in start up but the process may be open on start up. What do you use for a music player? Just the windows media player? I've been using iTunes ever since I got an iPod, which I don't have anymore anyway, and never looked into any others. I don't have it set to open up on startup, but the process probably opens on startup. As far as soundcard specs, I'll have to look up that info. I've never upgraded it which is something I've been thinking about doing and could definitely see how itd be too weak. As far as tutorials I'd love to make some for you guys if there's interest, once I figure it out a little more.

OK, so you are talking about a controller, not an Interface?

If that is the case, I have the APC40, but it is just a controller and needs an software for its interaction with the computer. Controllers are not natively supported by the OS (any OS to my knowledge), so it will only work with an application that supports MIDI (as that is how they interact) controllers.

If I go to Reaper, they have a controller API (Application Program Interface), but it has to be set up for the APC40. In Ableton, it already has the mappings, or you can set the learn function and it works. If there is no API included with the software, there is no way for the controller to interact with the application as the application did not make a way to interact with the software. In other words, the application has to be programmed to be controlled by something other than a mouse or Keyboard (OS supported human Interface).

If I missed the mark on this, just provide the full details of the interface you are talking about. But based on my search, this is what I can come up with. Not sure if I helped or further confused.
