I only have limited experience in FL Studio which isn't the sofware i wish to produce with. But Cakewalk and Reaper have me utterly lost at the start.

What are you using to trigger drum sounds in Reaper ?

you need logic. it is one of the easier recording softwares ever devised. and it is still a pro grade software. and if you have any experience in garage band you are even better off.

I have used garage band a few times in my life but nothing to shake a stick at. But I have a PC not a mac.

yeah, garageband is a toy pretty much. but you can use logic on PC or Mac. and it is as easy as reading the manual that it comes with. the reason garageband experience helps is because it is almost the exact same operating format (which is different from a lot of PC based softwares like Cakewalk.)

some people have trouble switching from something like cakewalk to logic because of that.

the reason i am telling you all this is because i dont have a damn clue about triggers on midi files, just like you. but i make dubstep beats on logic on the daily.

so its just something to consider maybe. ha. there is for sure good value in having more then one kind of software around. they do different things differently. for better or for worse. :)
