A little help from someone with experience? I would like to know how to make the keyboard present arpeggiated chords at an assigned rate, as you hold a key down. I assume that would be how it's done. For example, the sound I'm trying to acheive is like the intro of "Everywhere" by Fleetwood Mac. Also sort of like the bells at the intro of "With Or Without You" by U2. These notes do not sound as if they are actioned by hand. I was messing with the delay, but that's not what it is. I have an Alesis Qs6. Will it do this for me? Thanks. -Perry

Your Alesis QS6 has no arpeggiator, and that's what you're looking for.

You don't mention whether or not you have a sequencer that's capable of loading midi files available, but if you do just Google 'Twiddly Bits' - they have many types of midi files available and probably more than a few simulate the arpeggiator 'sound'.

When a client of mine asked for a 'Won't Get Fooled Again' type arpeggiation and I followed the formula above --- with a little tweeeeking of both the file and the synth patch we had a winner...

Some sequencers also have arpeggiators built into them.... Sonar does for example. You hold down a chord and tell Sonar what kind of arpeggio to play, octave range etc. So, also check you sequencer to see if one is there.

There are also some VST plugin arpeggiators. That a look here:

Most of those are PC, but you might be able to find info on Mac arpeggiator plugins here:

Thanks for that link SonicAlbert, I've never even seen that site. Lot's of good stuff :)

Glad to help. There are a lot of very cool freeware plugins out there. Hopefully one of those arpeggiator plugins will work for you. Let us know if you find one that works well.

re:arpeggiator

I am not sure if I have sequencer. Are you suggesting that it's possible that I have one built into my qs6 keyboard? There are sample songs you can listen to if that means anything... The reason I thought my keyboard was capable of this sound is because there is a factory preset called "shimmerpad". You hold a key and it has all these bells changing notes. I discoverd a section of voices called "Keyboard>Rhythm" that do those sort of "auto" sounds. Can they be adjusted via parameters? Thanks a lot for your help.

I have as QS8.... there is no sequencer in the QS series. There are hardware sequencers and some synths have built in sequencers, but the most powerful ones run through a computer. Most people who use keyboards use sequencers (actually sequencter features in their DAWs) as part of the composition/recording process.
