ok, guys...im new to this message forum, and new to home recording...ok i have a carvin 8 channel mixer that we use live with our band...if i have a usb interface or if i dont, how do i hook this up to my computer to use when recording so i can use these channels. is it possible, or do i need to get a new sound card, or do i have to have an interface. i just want to do some demo stuff at home with the acoustic, and maybe another guitar layer, but i dont know how to hook it all up, or what i need to get to get started, and if you guys could help me out...it would be greatly appreciated. also going the cheapest route possible.
thanks guys!

Ideal would be(if you plan on recording a band, drums, etc) to have a multiinput soundcard(delta 1010, MOTO2408, and so on). You could get away with a delta 44 or 66 for that matter. Then, I'm not familiar with your mixer, you'd want to hook up your mixer to the soundcard, via the mixers outputs(if you only have main out, you wont be able to record more than two tracks at a time).
BUT, if you only look to record yourself, one track at a time, I suggest you buy, say, an Audiobuddy and a decent microphone. Add an Audiophile 2496 to that and you got yourself a modest, inexpensive setup.
Oh, and a prog ofcourse(ntrack is free, btw).
Did this help?
