I'm using the FW-1884 with Sonar 4 Producers Edition. However, for me it has not been so smooth. It worked fine when I got it about 3 weeks ago. But a few days after that it started to act quirky.
The Tascam is made to work best with Sonar in its Native mode (so the manual says) but Sonar won't recognize it when it is no matter how I tweak the Options -Control Surfaces menu, nor how much I tweak the Options-MIDI Devices (and I've followed the manual on this too). It works fairly well in the Mackie mode though (but it doesn't do all the things like it would in Native - doesn't recognize the EQ and many of the other shortcuts). I did do a Windows XP Service Pack update about that time. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. I've removed and reloaded Sonar 3 times now and it hasn't helped at all. There is also a huge latency when mixing (like 1 second), when using faders and such, but that wasn't there before when I was able to run it in Native mode.
A second, but less important problem is that when I attempt to delete one of the saved Control Surfaces in the Options-Control Surfaces menu, it won't allow me to do it and it just shuts down my whole computer almost instantly. Because I've been attempted to fix it so much, there's like 7 Tascam 1884's in that list. Even when I reload the program, that list is still exactly the same. How can that be? And how can I remove the extras?
Any suggestions would be of great help!
