Help with extracting audio cd

I have 2 machines both running cool edit pro 2.0. one machine is a pentium 4 and will not extract cd's. The other is an amd athlon and extracts just fine. The athlon has a check mark in cdda accurate. The pentium 4 has a check mark in no connection and i have found no way to set it for cdda accurate. I am using the same 56x cd rom in both machines made by the same manufacturer and have switched the cd roms from one machine to the other to try to correct the problem and it didnt help. It seems the program on the pentium 4 is not picking up the cd rom. Can anyone help?
