I got it good once and that's it. I use Cool Edit Pro with a good RCA cable to my input jack on my computer. It produces somewhat of a high frequency noticable minimal distortion...sounds like garbage. I got one take that is really clear with no noise....sounds super good, but I don't know how. Am I maybe not saving the wav properly??? I have turned down my imput signal to almost nothing thinking that I was maybe putting too much gain into the sound card, but no. Help please this has been killing me for weeks!!!

First let's determine if the problem is actually CEP. Give me some information on your setup, for example, what are you using to get the signal into your computer, and what are using for playback?

The problem ain't Cool. The problem's *never* Cool.

More likely the soundcard, or the driver, or a setting for the card.

I am mixing down from my MD8 into the line in on the computer...I have used 2 seperate computers and they both do it...that's why I suspect that it is not anything in my MD8. Besides playingback through anything I've used sounds great....including the computer speakers themselves until it is recorded and then playing it back has the crappy sound I described.

Would it be the soundcard even though it sounds good just playing it through the computer and out the speakers...you know like 'live' or simultaneously if that makes any sense. It only happens after I've recorded the wave. I thought that maybe it has something to do with the settings pre recording like how many bits and Hz I've selected??? What's the best selection for that by the way? What do you usually save the wave as?

As for playing back...I burned them to CD and played it in numerous stereos....it almost hurts to listen to with high frequencies and ya...

Thanks.
