I've just had this unit 3wks, and last night I noticed that when monitoring my keyboard through the 2816, there was a "break up" in the sound at low meter levels. For reference I'm using a motif 8 directly into the 2816; gain levels were set perfect, as was the fader level, and the keyboard volume was relatively high to get a good signal/noise ratio. Now, when I hit a note it sounds fine until it decays down to a certain point-roughly the lowest measurable meter level; that's when the note starts breaking up; kind of a static type sound. Then I monitored my acoustic mic'd with a sm57 directly into the unit and noticed the same thing. I was having trouble getting a good level with the acoustic and I thought it was just too much noise in a weak signal but this doesn't seem right. Also, I use the same cables to hook my keyboard to my monitor speakers and I have never noticed this problem. Could this be a cable problem, i.e. poor quality, too long, or what? Any help would be appreciated.

Yo Doc:

I'm guessing that you have a cable problem somewhere, maybe even in your cans?

It's possible that you don't hear the noise when you're playing at high volume and then you hear it when the volume is fading.

Have you tried jiggling your cables with no music playing to see if anything breaks up? Move up your faders and set the volume and test all cable connections. If nothing crackles, then it may be you have a setting in your dynamics selections or EQ or Reverb that is causing this rattle.

I'm not really sure but I have had cables act funny all of a sudden so checking them out is usually the first thing I do.

Hope this helps.
