chessparov,

Thanks for the advice....have you tried the ATM3035? It looked interesting...

Rev E,

thanks for the heads-up on the AT mics.....the guy at Sweetwater really talked this one up and I trust the guys there, but I know he's trying to make a sale too, so there you have it....

Maybe I should flip a coin :p

robn, didn't test the at3035 (too sensitive for my home) or the Marshall
V67 (similar sensitivity to C1).
When I tested the C1 at the dealer it sounded great for my vocals, so
I just bought it then. If it hadn't I would have checked out the Marshall,
and possibly the Rode NT1000. My belief is that Alan Hyatt was telling
the truth about the Studio Projects designs being ahead of the low cost
condenser "pack". It was a clever move to put "797" on the mike to
help create a higher accountability from that factory to keep the quality
control up. Whatever mike you pick should last for many years so don't
let a $20-30 price difference between manufacturers matter to you.

And if it DOESN'T stick with you for years to come, don't let an $80 - $100 drop in resale value stop you either.

;)

--Tax :D

And if only I bought that Neumann U47 at a garage sale 10 years ago for
$100.....

Hmmmmmm. Looks like I'm gonna have to get me a C1 somewhere.

10-4 on the C1

This is why these forums are so great. I WAS going to pick up an ATM 4033, but now that I've gotten the lowdown on their "oversensitivity," I think I'll try the Studio Projects mic. I, too, live in an apartment: specifically, the 10th floor of a 23-floor hi-rise in Changwon, Korea. Talk about a noisy environment! I empathize with the Grinch because all this noise, noise, NOISE really gets to me sometimes.

I just wonder if I'd be able to pick one up over here (?)
