Help, urgent, in the studio and only getting sound on one side

Hi, I'm on a time crunch and just noticed I'm only getting full sound on one side. I hear some music faintly on the bad side and no vocals at all. I tried a second pair of headphones to be sure it isn't that, but still having the same problem. Can some please help me diagnose this asap :facepalm:

Win 7 / 64 - Asus laptop - Cubase
 
i have it on mono channel so meter looks normal, just not getting much sound on the one side :(
 
Help, sound card issue maybe? Settings? Urgent help needed

Getting very low sound on one side of my headphones, tried a different pair of headphones but still no luck. Can someone help me diagnose this please, I'm in the studio and on a time crunch. Help!!!! :( :facepalm: :yawn:

Win 7 64 / Asus laptop / cubase 5

I've tried looking in the basic volume settings to see if it was panned left or right but it isn't (in cubase and in my laptop settings) , I checked the drivers but no yellow or red x's, tried to update them but it said they were current. Not sure what else to do.
 
Understood, but keep in mind if we have no idea what your setup is, we can't help.

Headphones with a 3.5mm jack?
Heaphones with a 1/4"?
Size converter in the chain?
Plugged into the laptop output?
Plugged into an interface output?
Do the built in speakers/monitors/whatever work as they should?
Did the headphones+output ever work properly?
Do the headphones work elsewhere?(ipod?
Does the adapter work elsewhere, if there is one? (ipod?)

That kind of thing.
 
What audio interface do you have? I suspect your audio track you are listening to is only recorded on one side of a stereo track.


>>Itunes 'One side is more quiet' - if you are using your laptop's headphone output (1/8") are you using an adapter to 1/4" for the headphones? If so, is it a stereo adapter (3 conductors)? Your Win 7 soundcard controls may be skewed, also, if you dont' have an external interface.

Just a guess, are you using 1/4" to 1/8" adapters anywhere? Headphones/monitors/whatever? They do that crazy s**t all the time.

Jimmy!! Good to hear from you. I bought some new headphones and it fixed the balance issue. I still only have vocals on one side when i use a stereo track though. Yes I do use an adapter. And sorry for the multiple threads, I was freaking out, my apologies
 
Hey man. Stereo tracks require two inputs. Use mono tracks with a single mic. That will solve that issue. :)

All good with the post thingy. That is what we are here for. :)
