Help! I am not able to get my software to record from my Roland XV-88 keyboard.

My current configuration:

Roland Keyboard XV-88

Laptop: HP ZD7000 (17” laptop—about 1 year old)

Audio card: Sound Blaster external USB audio. I connected my "Roland XV-88 RCA output" into "Sound Blaster external audio card RCA input" into "USB laptop".

MIDI: "www.m-audio.com MIDISPORT Uno" that connects "Roland XV-88 MIDI" into "USB laptop".

Software: Cool Edit Pro 2.0

When I play a soundfile from the laptop, it records right into Cool Edit Pro. But when I play from the Roland, there is no signal coming into the computer. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. It is as if the software is not "hearing" my playing coming from the Roland. I checked all volume levels (on the audio card and within the computer's sound control panel), and made sure the software line in is set to Sound Blaster.

Many thanks,
Christian

Try This: Double Click the Volume Icon in the Lower Right of your desktop. Click Options-Properties, select Recording, and make sure that Line In is checked. Click OK and make sure that Line in is checked again and that the volume bar is up some.
