This problem has been plaguing me for awhile. I have made a demo tape with a Tascam Porta02 ministudio. Simply put, this is what I want to do: I want to correctly connect the tascam to my computer (stock sound card with Miniplug input) record the songs with the program Quartz audiomaster, so I can burn them to Cd.
I am connecting the porta 2 to the computers line input with a cord that came with the car kit to my sony discman. One side has patch (L and R) inputs, while the other has a stereo mini plug that fits right into my computer.

While I play back the tape the sound coming through the computer speakers is fine, but when I play back the finished recording it is Way too fast, and it is like clipped and garbled... it's not legible music as far as im concerned... total noise...

so I suppose what I'm asking is what can I do about this? and how can I do it the right way??? please respond quickly, I'd like to get this problem out of my hair.

Thanks in advance,

~Bobcat

Try something like http://www.goldwave.com and make sure your sample rate is set accordingly at the recording stage. It sounds like you have the right cabling, something is messing with the sampling rate by your description. 16bit at 44KHz is what you want for eventual burning. You may want to check the file properties of your previous attempt.

What Emeric said. - hey bobcat - don't post yourself all over the BBS. One post would have got you a reply.
Cheers

Ha! You are being too nice John...me on the other hand won't be....

Hey Bobcat, not only is your question NOT urgent, but you did post it in 3 different forums, and twice in one of them.

That is fucked up. I never provide answers when people do that.

Don't give me the ol' I didn't know that was NOT okay shit. Any moron would know.

So, sonusman has greeted you in the way only I would greet a spamming fuck newbie.

alright, sorry

Sorry, I didn't think it would kill anybody. I'll be more considerate next time? but really, what can I do about my problem? I need to get this demo out like NOW or I'm screwed out of a good opportunity... so yea it is a little urgent. Sorry again and best wishes,

Take a breath......check that when you record the tracks, your software is set to record at 16 bit, 44.1k sample rate. Then it will come out as it went in.
I'm assuming that you don't have a direct digital connection to the 'puter. If you do, make sure that all pieces are in agreement at 16/44.1. Try again, good luck.

didn't work

yes yes, thanks very much. but I tried that, even downloaded gold wave... still same. any other advice?

I like it when Ed loses it. look what we got last time: he irritated himself over some home-recordists and wrote the "mixing secrets..."

And last but most certainly not least:

YOUR ANGER IS A GIFT!

yeah!;)
