Hi to all Analog Tape Gurus :)

I've recentely purchased Tascam Midistudio 644 with Manual

I am having a tough time to understand the little screen with factory presets
where all the routing of the Midistudio 644 is happening:

the manual is very confusing....

I have lots of Newbe questions , sorry about that

Example : i've run a 4 track test Live recording using preset 11 ...

believing that i would record all 4 tracks separately - but it looks like
the the preset 11 bounced all 4 tracks to 1 ( one) ?

What factory preset should i use to be able to record and mix 4 tracks separately?

thanks in advance for any ideas

I do know you have incredible flexibility in routing and mixing on this machine. So you could create presets to bounce everything to one, or direct through with 4 tracks from input to output.

But I have to admit, I had a Midistudio 644 for quite a while, and never did figure out how to make it work! I sold it, got a small Fostex MR8 digital recorder, them moved to a PC setup after that. For me, having very limited time in the studio, it wasn't worth my time to try to figure out a very complex and obsolete piece of equipment. Even going from a very high end tape system to a very cheap digital system was INCREDIBLE. Easy to use, and the sound is soo much better.

Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but my experience was like yours, and I bailed on the 644.

Take some time to read the manual and have the unit in front of you so you can learn as you read. You will stay interested that way. Have a blank tape to play around with. It took some time, but if I can get it, you most certainly can as well! Cheers!

This is the first post and not permitted post the link but this is page where you can download the user manual ....
