Okay guys... I've got the MiaMIDI I bought last week, installed now. But I'm running into some routing problems it seems.

I've set up the Mia Console to record via Analog In 1 & 2. I'm routing the Audio out via Virtual Outputs 3 & 4. Now... I have the SC connected to my Eurorack Mixer via 1/4 cables. I'm running from the 2 outputs on the Mia, to the Stereo Aux return in my mixer. I'm routing back to the SC from the mixer, from Control Room Out to the Analog In 1 & 2 on the Mia....

Now, the problem is... when I attempt to record vocals while listening to a background track, I'm recording the background track on the vocal track as well....

Can someone help me out here? There has to be a way to listen to playback while recording... I did it with my cheap windows soundcard, so the Mia has to do it... I just assume I'm running it through my mixer incorrectly, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

Thanks.

-Brian

If the Eurorack has direct outs use those instead of the CR outs.

I'd run the outputs from the MIA into a pair of line inputs too rather than the AUX receive.

See "Using a mixer with a DAW" from EQ magazine, first in the list on my Articles page:

I'm not familiar with the mixer you have, but as C7sus said the key is to use the mixer's preamp direct outputs.

With a Euro mixer, you need to go:

Euro main outs -->Mia in's: Mia out's --> 2 track/tape in's, and make sure the 2 track to control room button is pushed, otherwise you'll get a nasty screech.

Thanks Ethan. Great article, but not going to help me. My mixer doesn't have specific outputs for the XLR inputs.

I'm going to have to figure it out, or get a higher end mixer.

Yep, I figured that out last night.

I have to pick up a set of 1/4" to RCA cables.

Thanks.
