Help Required

I want to record a couple of rock demos at home but I don't have a clue where I should begin... I haven't got much money to spend at all so I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to get top quality (prob second hand) equipment, everything I need to make it sound decent ie. can it all be done through the mixer, and if not what else is required? Any help at all would be much appreciated. E Mails welcome.

Modern Recording Techniques. Barnes and Noble. Don't start buying equipment (like I did) until you do you due diligence.

A great book you should get is Home Recording for Musicians by Craig Anderton, also please check out the "basic recording" series by Paul White you will like these little books
