I want to record a couple of rock demos at home but I don't have a clue where I should begin... I haven't got much money to spend at all so I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to get top quality (prob second hand) equipment, everything I need to make it sound decent ie. can it all be done through the mixer, and if not what else is required? Any help at all would be much appreciated. E Mails welcome. :)

I suggest you start reading the FAQs (HR.com newbie FAQ) at this site to get yourself some background.... then come back to the forums and ask some more pointed questions.........

What you've just asked here would take several small novels to answer........

...several small books of non-fiction or several large novels (fiction).

Modern Recording Techniques. Barnes and Noble. Don't start buying equipment (like I did) until you do you due diligence.

A great book you should get is Home Recording for Musicians by Craig Anderton, also please check out the "basic recording" series by Paul White you will like these little books
