Hi,

i went to my friends house and he has used a program to unlock his line-in port.

this allows him to connect two sets of speakers into the same computer. 1 set of speakers in the line-in port and 1 set of speakers in the line-out port

but he didnt tell me the name of the program!!!(evil biatch!!! ).

could ne1 recommend another program to do this, or even another method to connect 2 sets of speakers to 1 computer.

thanks for all ur help

:) :) :)

There happen to be some soundchips that can switch the function of some of the ports. Unless you install the proper driver for the soundchip, Windows installs a default one with no means to switch the port. Most pcs don't have the proper full driver installed.
Presumbably, you want it for surround sound? In which case there is nothing you can do if the chip doesn't support function switching of the port.

To find out what soundchip you have, right click on the speaker icon on the task bar, select "adjust audio properties" and on the Audio Tab you can see the name of the record and playback device. On the Hardware tab, you can probably see the exact device number of the soundchip.
On the machine I'm using now, The Audio tab shows "C-media Wave Device" while the Hardware Tab shows "CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device". In this case, the chip can have all 3 ports as outputs for 5.1 surround, but the full driver is not installed so surround is not available - it's only feeding the crappy little speakers in the monitor!
Once you have a chip number, you can Google for the correct driver download.

Certain audio chips like the Realcrap ... I mean Realtek AC97 will allow you to configure the jacks through their program "Audio HQ". There may be other soundcards that will do this, but I would think it would be hardware specific.
You could just get an 1/8" stereo Y adapter like this one .
