I've made an identical post on the presonus board's tech support section but I've had good luck getting good answers here so I thought I'd see if anyone here can help out. THANKS!

Hey,

So I just set up my FSP and followed the user manual and installed the latest drivers from the Presonus website. After restart, the light on the FSP glowed solid blue as it said it should if the installation went correctly.

At this point, my two monitors were plugged into the mainout 1/2 on the back of the FSP. I also have headphones in the front headphone jack.

I opened up itunes to test it out. I am getting levels in the firecontrol mixer on DAW1, DAW2 and the main OUTPUT slider. However, there is no sound on my monitors or headphones. The only thing I can hear is an annoying buzz emitted from my monitors - more so on the right speaker than the left. Same issue with Cubase 4 studio - levels, but no sound.

What'd I do wrong?!

System specs

ASUS M50Sv notebook
Vista 32bit + SP1
Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 @ 2.5GHz
3GB RAM
I'm using an SIIG 2-Port Firewire Expresscard with TI chipset (http://www.siig.com/ViewProduct.aspx?pn=NN-EC2012-S1)

thanks ahead of time,

Joe

EDIT:

I resolved the issue to the point where I get playback through headphones and speakers, however it is poppy and it cuts off after about 5 minutes of playback.

Yup. That's pretty much the norm for the FireStudio Project. It's a DICE II-based interface. They're buggy and unreliable even with TI chipsets. You aren't the only one seeing that behavior by any stretch. Do a search for "firestudio project pops" and enjoy. It is even an equal opportunities offender---it breaks after about five minutes on both Mac OS X and Windows....

My advice: send it back and tell the dealer why you're sending it back. If enough dealers get these things returned, maybe they'll get the idea and drop the product so other people won't have to deal with it.

Seriously. Send it back.

Hi, this is Jeremy from PreSonus Audio, the problem with playback could be emanating from different sources, if you want send me an email, and maybe we can work out the playback issue and any other issue that may be occuring.

Jeremy... What´s your opinion about DICEII... I¨m a happy owner of a FP10, but everyone seems to agree that DICeII=trouble...

I would like to hear how do you (Presonus) feel about it...

Thanks!
