hi i have a RODE NT1 microphone and i need to plug it into my macbook. could you please help me know what product i need to buy to get connected with Garage Band?

It's a condenser microphone and needs phantom power, preamplification and analogue to digital conversion before its signal can go into a computer.
The standard advice is that you need a USB or firewire audio interface - most do all three of these operations, and of which there are many possible options.
Read the stickies up the top to get your head around the concepts.
There are other ways and others will tell you them, but I'd never recommend anything less than a proper interface.
