i would like to record my music. i play keyboard, bass and guitar. i have all the instruments plus e.q.s mixing board (fostex 450, 8 in and 4 out) i think it's mix down board an alot of mish. equipment (rack mount) anyway my son in law ownes a sound co. for the movies. he wants me to start giving him sound bites of all kind of stuff. i have a sony desk top and a new korg triton ketboard (73) monitor speakers ect. i need to know if i can use what i have and add to it ? or buy something else, i plan to play all the insterments myself but need to wind up with a quality product. i have been playing for over 35 years. it;s changed so much, i have been at some software and a digital mixing board but is this what i need??? plesae help..

How many tracks do you need to record simultaneously?

An M Audio Delta 44 for $150 would sit nicely behind your mixer, and let you do 4 tracks at once.

You can record these with a free version of Tracktion, dl from http://guitarplayer.com/freetracktion.htm

If you only need to record 2 tracks at a time, have a look at the M- Audio audiophile for around $90

thank you for the info.

since i'me the only one to be recording my plan was to lay down tracs one at a time i.e. keyboard, then add guitar to the keybord trac then bass over the top of that, drum machine ect i know my keyboard has alot of storage. but not have opened the box yet don't know realy what it can do . thanks again. the madman

magoo. this is what i use and recommend, particularly if your into midi.
you wont beat it without paying out a lot of money on several different programs.
http://www.pgmusic.com/powertracks.htm
in the new version it has some very unique features like vocal pitch correction and harmonisation. it also has specific features for keyboard, bass, and guitar including showing you the notes being played back.
for bass and guitar it has a fretboard display. just take the video tour and try the demo.
also is band in a box at the same site. this lets you build a back up band in software like drums, bass, keys etc etc. its highly addictive if you dont want the hassle of bringing in musicians, and makes the one man band a reality.
peace.
