Help playing piano notes!

Whatsup everybody, first off I have to say that this whole site is nice. My quesiton is that a lot of producers such as Dr. Dre don't play their own instruments but have the ideas in their heads to be great producers... Well I use Nuendo, Fruity Loops, Akoff Midi Composer, and some other stuff to do beats; is there any other programs or tips you might have to help me play those notes in my head? I mean, Akoff Midi composer lets you hum tunes into it, but sometimes it picks up notes you dont want it to. How can I get past this problem? Please list any tips you may have other than paying hundreds for piano lessons. Thanks!

If you just can't figure it out...

1)
Look online for chord & fingering charts.

2)
Buy yourself a chord book or two.

3)
Learn (thru the books) some basic theory - like how simple scales work. The same rules will apply, no matter what key you're playing in.

4)
Get to plinking around on your keyboard. There's no "easy" way, just the way. Of course, the way is to play, play, play...

I never took lessons, but I can get around quite ok on the keyboards, and I started the same way years ago. I don't really use books like that anymore, but I do still study theory and practice a lot - it helps if you really wanna be a keyboard player. If you just wanna get your ideas across, try the 4 steps I suggested above.

And most importantly...

THE 4TH STEP I MENTIONED IS THE MOST IMPORTANT.

Just like with anything else, taking lessons, reading, etc. (all very important), and "cheating" don't make you dope, practice makes you dope.

To add ... Know you equipment. Learning how to go into your sequencer and edit the note data can help you to tighten up your sequnces to adjust them how you like them. You can remove notes or adjust them to sound exactly how you want them. Even if you can't play it out. Peace.
