Help! NO FX

Hello all! Currently I m recording through a P166 system w/ 2 sound cards (1 in/1 out), using Cakewalk 8.0. I'm using my Digitech Studio400 for FX. My probem is, everything sounds great on monitor side during recording, all FX are the way I want them. But, when I playback there is little if any FX on what I've recorded. Ive tried increasing wet signals while rec'g, but my original singnal becomes mud in the mix
Any tips,ideas or fixes would be much appreciated!

It sounds like a routing problem...you're listening OK but not recording properly. Are you bringing your FX back to the sound card via a mixer, or what?

I'm currently running my FX thru the aux channels on my board, with line out going to the computer. I tested line outs by going direct to my cassette deck...works great! Dont know what else it could be, would you suggest running the FX in line, instead of off of the aux busses?
