I just installed my new Delta 44 soundcard.
I set it up and I can hear all the Windows sounds, but no CD audio.
It´s important to note that with headphones plugged at the CD front I can listen to it.
The Multimedia configuration seems to be OK, but I cannot open "Volume control".
Any help is welcome.

Kinsley2,

The CD-ROM drive has to be connected via an internal cable to a sound card that has a jack to accept its input. The Delta cards have no such jack, hence the CD-ROM drive can only play audio through its headphone jack on its front panel.

So the fix would be to dump a second soundcard, like and SB, into the machine, and hook the CD up to that. Then add a small speaker source switchbox, and you're done.

or just run a line from your headphone out to said speaker switch box.

Thank you for help.
I´ll try to connect the stereo headphone jack to the inputs of Delta and then I have it.

Kinsley,

Before you hook up a second sound card (if you decide to do that), be aware that you might be in for a lot of IRQ-conflict troubleshooting depending on what else is in your system.

As to hooking the headphone signal to the inputs of the Delta, is the headphone signal the right level? Maybe gaffa or camn know...

Sure I will have a lot of conflicts, AlChuck.
I have 3 PCI slots on my mobo. 1 for Delta, 1 for my modem (Motorola 56k).
To install the Delta I had to change the slot 1 time because of conflicts...
About the level of the signal, the support people of M-Audio said to me that is possible to connect that way, so it´s the right level.
I just need to make a cable to do that...

The warning about IRQ conflicts was in case you were going to get a second card to play the CD audio...

Headphone level isn't line level, so you need to be a bit careful, cos depending on the CD-ROM, it might be possible to pass too high a level to the sound card. I don't know a whole lot about the Delta 44, so I'm not sure if looping it like that is going screw things royally or noot. If the idiman guys say it's OK, then I guess it is (assuming that they know what they are talking about)
