Hi all,
I have a question for you all. I am trying to get my studio up and running, but am having a miserable time of it, and I am looking for advice and suggestions.
My recording chain looks like this:
Synths, preamps, etc into a Lucid AD8824.
Lucid ADAT (8 channels) into a Tascam DM24.
Tascam DM24 8 channel ADAT into an Emu 1010 PCI card (ADAT)
Emu 1010 PCI card into Sonar 3 Producer Edition
The chain out:
Sonar 3 into Emu 1010 PCI card (ADAT)
Emu 1010 PCI card (ADAT) to the Tascam DM24

What I am looking to accomplish is to use the Lucid's AD cpnvertors and have everything else digital. I am trying to get Emu ASIO drivers working properly.I have everything sync'd as 24 bit, 48k (I believe).
The Lucid to Tascam part of the chain works great, however, the backend is not working. The audio coming out of the Emu sounds like crap - I am suffering distortion andI don't know why.
Here are my questions:
1) Who should the master clock be? Should it be the Tascam board?
I need to get the Lucid, theTascam board, and the emu PCI card all sync'd. Is one of these preferable to the others as the master clock? Would it be advisable to get an outboard word clock? If so, which?
2) Are there any inherent flaws in this setup? Am I missing anything?
