Basically I want to upgrade from my soundblaster audigy card. Do any have Phantom Power?

I am currently using a M-Audio Delta 1010LT in a 2.8GHz/800MHz FSB P4 box. $250 at Musicians Friend after pricematch from Bayview Pro Audio.

2 balanced XLR line in/mic pres (no phantom power)
6 unbalanced RCA line in
8 unbalanced RCA line out
MIDI
S/PDIF
Wordclock

I am not aware of any PCI sound card that provides phantom power. I do not believe that the PCI bus (5.5v) supplies enough juice.

The M-Audio Studiophile 2496 falls within your price range and is considered to be head and shoulders above anything by Creative.

what about the terratec DMX6? I've hear that is quite good

I got a TASCAM US122 because I wanted an interface with mic pres with phantom power. It's also got DI inputs for guitars and direct monitoring. The bundled software isn't that great, but you can use whatever you have now.

I used it to record this. The street price is $200. I didn't have trouble with USB connection.

I have posted this before. USB not worth the money or the hassle. You can go out and buy a M-Audio Audiophile and external preamp for the same price as the 122.

Yes, brzilian, we meet again!

Really, if I would have had more to spend, I would have probably gotten an Aardvark 2496 or a Q10. One day I hope to have RME. I do understand your concerns about the USB.
