Sorry for this post but ive been serching this whole forum and i cant find no awnser for what im questioning my self for. Basiclly i need to make this room soundproof.

Ive been reading about rockwool but i cant seem to find if anyone sells them in california or at the homedepot. maybe some information where i can buy rockwool and what kind.

also i heard about a ruber roll that you install i dont know what to get. i checked at guitars center online page and it responded witha rubber roll for like 600 bucks. i think thats to expensive. maybe there is something out there that is cheaper and prevent sound from leaking out.

Below are pics and quick movies of my studio so u can get a better prespective on what im triying to do and maybe someone could help me out.

Sound travels through air, so you're going to need to make the room have an air-tight seal for no sound to escape. Yes, it is possible, but this is a Home Recording forum, and most homeowners don't have that kind of money!

What it looks like you should do, is Acoustical Treatment. That's where the rockwoll and rigid fiberglass comes in.

thanx for the replys

but all the links u gys gave me dont seem to help. it seems that the problem keeps repeating on how to soundproof. i went to homedepot just right now and they had some fiberglass fabric. on the cover it said sound control. but i dont know if i should get this. it was like 53 bucks for 3 packs with 18 feet in each pack. now about the vynil roll. does it have a proper name ? a name i could ask or it has ? any retailers of rockwool in the los angeles area ?

these are the main questions i am asking my self

No, the stuff at HD won't help.

Like was said, sound travels through air.

So to make a room SOUNDPROOF, you need mass, and you need to stop the transmission of sound waves through the mass of the walls, floor, and ceiling.

SOUNDPROOFING is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE to accomplish.

It usually requires double-wall or at least shifted-stud construction, floating floors, spring-suspended ceilings, at least a couple layers of drywall, use of Z-metal to mount drywall to, extensive caulking, and either Rockwool or Rigid Fiberglass Soundboard.

WTF are you recording, and why does your room need to be SOUNDPROOF as opposed to well-treated to achieve a nice tonal balance and uniform low RT times???

Looking at your pics, you also need to get rid of the windows, and isolate that door somehow.

Do you live under the approach to an airport or something????

Here's a link that should prove helpful, and be sure to check out the BBS on this link for SOUNDPROOFING info.

Like was said before, making a room soundproof is very, if not extremely difficult and quite expensive. There's a ton of info to be found on the web.

In my first post I linked to another thread where you can find links to websites you should read very carefully, there's a lot to learn about the subject for free. It'll just cost you some time.

In general you need mass and a fluffy material like fiberglass. Two layers of 1/2" drywall, a layer of fiberglass, an airspace, again a layer of fiberglass and again two layers of drywall will hold at least 60dB of SPL (sound pressure level) inside your room.

Look at the bottom of this website: http://www.domesticsoundproofing.co.uk/tloss.htm
