okay, i've got Sonar running on two different PCs; however, i cannot effectively record audio on either. one of the PCs(with a C-Media sound card), records audio with a delay, making it impossible for me to do any sort of organized multitracking. the other PC(with a VIA AC97 WDM) will not allow me to record at all. as Sonar starts it gives a message stating that it 'does not support this type of audio format'. so which one should i throw off of my balcony first?

On the machine that gives you the delay, do you have Input Monitoring enabled? If so, turn it off. I think it is located somewhere in the Options -> Audio section.

On the other one, it may be that you have your audio set up for 24 bits, but your card only supports 16-bits (this is a guess). Try going into Options -> Audio and set your audio driver bit depth to 16 bits, and then reprofile your sound card. You probably also want to set your file bit depth to 16 bits as well. See if that helps.

You might also check to see that the sample rate matches the capabilities of your sound card as well.
