when recording i get so many errors its crazy, and i starts skipping durning playback, i have never had this problem before, and i will say that my computer is overloading, and i saw that i only have 128mb of ram, do i need more of this or whats the deal,

It depends on what program your using, what your processor speed is, your soundcard and it's driver and your whole setup.

Why don't you post more specs and see if you can't get a more specific answer.

More memory is always a good thing, but since you say things used to work fine for you, take a look at your harddrive first.

The general rule used to be a drive should be kept less than 80% full if you want optimum access. Make sure it's defragged once in a while, especially if it's near capactiy.

Check your OS drive as well as any audio drive you may have.

okay here it is

i have a audiophile 2496 sound card, a sony viao pentium 4 processor, 128mb of ram, but i did see that my system recorces are at 57% hope this helps, and a crappy magix 2004 recording program but it cool for now

what operation system are you using?

how many tracks do you record before the skipping starts?

how many RPMs is your hard drive? do you have 2 HDs? 1 drive for apps, and 1 for your audio? this is the recommended method for recording audio.

I use Samplitude Master, which is distributed by Magix. From what I understand, the same dudes that made SM are in control of Magix.

what you really need is 2 hard drives that are 7200 RPM or better, and 256 MB RAM minimum.

I've got a 1.2ghz, 512mb, 2 HDs, and a CD-R/W. I'm about to upgrade to a 2.6ghz.

i have windows ME which ive heard is not very good, i have 128 mb of ram and one petium 4 hard drvie

oh i forgot

um i can record 1 track find and the other ones will start skipping sayin my computer is overloading

Overloaded!

If your system resources are at 57% you should look at what is running while you are trying to record. It sounds to me like you have lots of stuff running in the background. When recording tracks you should always exit out of every application that you wont be using. That includes antivirus.
WinME is not going to allow you to do any real recording. The limitations inherent in the OS keep your overhead from being very high. In english that means that it wont allow use of resources beyond a set limit for any given program. XP on the other hand handles resources very well.
Everyone should go out and buy all the ram they can afford. Or at least all the ram that will fit to thier mother board. It's dirt cheap and provides ample overhead for the tracks you want to load. 512 mg is good a gig or more is better.
A separate HD is also a good idea. that way the files you create will go on there contiguously. (there wont be a piece here and a peice there.) 7200rpm is the speed you need.
I believe the big culprit tho is that something is running in the background eating up resources on ya.
Thats my story and Im sticking to it.

thanks
