I'm completely PC recording illiterate. I simply want to know how to play my guitar and record it on my PC. I have Logic Delta 4.8.1 that was left behind on PC by former roomate(just started reading the manual). I bought an Audiosport Quattro (Midi In/Out, 4 1/4" In/Out) which hooks to PC via USB, from a guy in a pawnshop that told me that I could just plug my electric/acoustic guitar into the 1/4" plugs in the back, and it would convert analog to digital and then I could record to PC. I can play my keyboard into Logic through the Midi In/Out, but plugging my guitar into the 1/4" plugs produces nothing. If I've made any sense at all, can someone tell me what recording component I may be missing in this matrix? I think the pawnshop guy told me anything to make a sale. Do I need a pre-amp? A mixer? etc? I wanna keep it simple till I understand more, and have more cash. So to recap, I have a PC with Win XP, Electric/Acoustic guitar, Audiosport Quattro, and Logic Delta. What's missing? Help? :^(

You said it: get a mixer. Or run a mic from your line in and mic your amp. Just watch the levels so you don't blow your soundcard.

the problem i'm having is how to use my Audiosport quattro and my guitar. The Quattro gets my keyboard into the Logic Delta program with it's Midi In/Out, and I want to be able to use my guitar in the Logic Delta program also. I thought the Quattro with it's 1/4" in/out was all I would need to plug into. If anyone knows anything about the Audiosport Quattro, or anything similar to it, please help.

Look at this link. They are discussing the Quattro. I don't know anything about it, other than M-Audio makes some good stuff. Everything I have read about the Quattro tells me it's no longer being made. If you have the manual, you may be able to figure out what is going on. If you don't, maybe you could contact the company and have one sent to you. Sorry I couldn't be much help, but I suspect maybe the settings on the unit may be set up for midi, and you have to change something to get the A/D converters to "hear" your guitar?
