Help me, my ears hurt...

Listening as I type....using headphones....
- don't care for the intro, a bit grinding on the nerves
- vocals are pretty good, sitting well in the mix, always easy to hear
- cymbals seem to sit right a bit at times
- bit more click on the kik to get it to stand out, other drums good
- loses the "meat" on the fade out/fade in maybe too far panned that right guitar
Everything easy to hear throughout so the mix and panning/effects seem to be working...
Good performance - pass along my compliments to the band too......

I been having a hard time with the kick.
Also the O/H been giving me trouble. The drumer is using 2 rides as crashes.
 
Love the guitar bit at 45 secs. To quote Homer Simpson - 'Excellent guitar riff'
 
Nice guitars. Vox seem to sit pretty well for this. Drums could use a bit more oommpppfff......Cymbals seem ok to me. Bit more kick, and maybe snare. Drums just need a little work in the bottom end, but don't kill the guitars.

Cool tune though man. Tell them they did good. Just needs a bit of tweaking now.
 
Kill the low end on the kick. I would try a low cut at 60Hz and maybe a compressor known to shed lows. That freebie SSL LMC might be the ticket.

At 1:30 on Pony 3-13 I think I wet myself . . . these Cookie Monster vocals are hilarious :D I would probably pull the vocals back a bit, these bands generally like obscure, shaded vocals.

Other than that . . . sounds . . . good :confused:
 
i agree with mshilarious. the vocals need to be pulled back a bit. vox kind of floats on top. kick definately needs a little attack/click to it.

give that boy a throat lozenge. :D after a few listens, my ears also hurt but i admire you for mixing this for your nephew.

Damn mshilarious, I cant work on the song anymore without cracking up. I keep thinking of cookie monsetr on crack. :eek: :D :D :D :D :D

I'd love to take credit, but "Cookie Monster" has been used to refer to this type of singing for at least 10 years

Will York, in the San Francisco Bay Guardian, helpfully explains for us the cookie monster vocal in death metal. "It's a mixture of several factors: habit, time-honored tradition, unoriginality, and necessity, in varying degrees."
