I just got a pretty nice laptop, so I want the option to go mobile, but still continue to use my laptop. I have decent mics and monitors.

I have for my desktop:

Echo Layla3G
Soundcraft Spirit M8 for pres

I have for my laptop:

Echo Indigo
Spirit Notepad for pres

Option 1:

Sell everything and purchase a Fireface 800 and a Tampa/Grace pre

Option 2:

Sell everything and get an Echo Audiofire8/12 and pres and more outboard gear (I don't have a compressor)

Option 3:

Add a Layla24 cardbus and purchase less outboard gear.

Option 4:

Keep what I have and purchase more outboard gear...I wouldn't want to use my Indigo for "serious" projects.

Option 5:

Other...please give me ideas.

I guess my question is: How should I spend $2000 wisely?

how strong is your desktop and how strong is your laptop?

Desktop:

DFI LanParty NF3 UT 250gb 754
AMD64 3000+ @ 2.0GHz
2 GB RAM
2 160 GB HDD
2 120 GB HDD (setting up as RAID0 soon)

Laptop:

Dell Inspiron 6000
Pentium M 760 (2GHz/2MB Cache/533 MHz FSB)
1 GB RAM
60GB 7200rpm HDD

I don't "think" my computers are going to be the problem. But I could be wrong.
