Hey There :) My name is Adam, I have recently been given the position of Band Manager for a few of my friends. However they are wanting to record songs, but I am also a singer myself and would like to record at home, do you have any ideas what I would need to get for equipment and I have a low budget:)

Thanks

Band manager you say? Lol kids :). Welcome to the bbs though, you are in good hands here. My first suggestion to all new guys though is to go to TweakHeadz Lab Electronic Musician's Hangout. Go to the guide section and read through all the sections. There you will learn all you need to get started. I would gladly explain everything to you now if I could, but there is just sooooooooo much to learn. Anything you don't understand though, don't hesitate to ask.

Drew

You might google "Tweak's Guide" (and/or start searching this forum, as this sort of stuff comes up seemingly every few minutes).

(EDIT) D'oh! Drew beat me to it...

That could probably work, but that would be like riding a bike on the interstate.

How low is your budget, exactly?

this could be somethin to think of just go out but somethin simple like a tascam portastudio THE DP01 sells cheap on ebay will get you started with recording two tracs at a time. and while on ebay find some decent mics such as a condensor of some type like if you cheap is what your after a apex 235 would do as well you will need another mic such as a sm57 use these mics with the tascam to record individual tracks or your could record it all on one track and just use one mic place it in the room and hope for the best. or if you have a laptop or computer you could hook up a cheaper mic such as your kareoke mic direct to it place it in the room with the band go online and find a daw for free as a demo such as mixcraft or reaper open the program create a track hit record and start playing.again hope for the best.
