HELP ME PLZss

I have an electric guitar, a bass, a keyboard, a crappy mic, a pretty decent PC (pentium 4, 1.8 GHz, based on Windows XP), and lots of songs in my head.

Now, I wanna record these songs up to the pro standards to my computer, but budget is limited to approx USD 300 (for the soundcard). I've been reading lots of stuffs and I think my head is about to explode with all the recrding jargons..

My questions:

1. Which sound card? I also want to record my keyboard so do I find a soundcard with "MIDI plugs"? What else do I need to watch out for on the MIDI thing?

2. I also need to record my beautiful voice. Which mic is better? And with "better" I also mean about the price.

3. USB or PCI or what is better?

4. Which of the soundcard can do simultanous recording? And do they record on separate independent tracks?

5. Read about the Behringer BCA 2000 or something. Is it any good?

Please help me by starting your answer with :

"The sound card you've been looking for is... (drum roll)... "

Thank you all you digital recording angels...

I know you don't want to here this ( i know i didn't) but if you want anything even close to pro quality you need to save. 300 hundread dollars is not enough to get any high quality gear.

Sounds like a job for the M-Audio OmniStudio (I recommend the PCI version, just because it's what I know)!
This incorporates some mic pre-amps and other stuff you need along with a soundcard.

Its not exactly 'pro' but you can get great results with it.

The Omni can record in 6 seperate tracks at once AFAIK - although the most I've used is 2.

A Rode NT3 is a cheap condensor mic and might work well with your voice.
The Sure SM58 is another cheap all-purpose mic - it's dynamic so will be better if you are recording in a room with a noisy computer.
Have fun :)

1. emu 0404 soundcard
2.with your budget...sm58
3.Pci is much better than usb (latency issues with usb) however firewire is another option you will have when you get more cash which is closely catching up with pci
4.with the 0404 you will be able to record all the tracks simultaneously onto a sequencer program which can be downloaded for free
5.No
6.you will also need a preamp for you mic, i suggest the audio buddy for you budget
7.also..a di box should be picked up for you bass (they run around 20-30)
*mic your guitar amp with the sm58 (not preferable but if its all you have) then do into the audio buddy then go into a analog in on the soundcard, put the bass into the di box and then put that into an analog in on the card, plug the keyboard's midi out onto the midi in on the card, finally vocals go through th sm58 into the audio buddy and then into the soundcard's analog in's

thats exactly three hundred dollar (minus the cables)
