please!! can someone give me advice! ive had £500 for two months now and still bought no four track, it doesnt have to be four of course, and doesnt have to be new, i just dont have a clue what i need. I'm looking to do a home demo with guitars, vocals & possibly some keyboard input.
Hard drive? minidisc/zip drive. i really dont know what i want. i just need something that records well. good sound quality (i am buying digital) i want lots of editing options (i know that pretty much rules out minidics) but would prefer something that takes discs not internal hard drive, and not smart cards. I'd prefer an analogue mixer but know by this point im asking for a bloody custom made job, so willing to settle for a digi one. if anyone takes the time to read this i appreciate it and please leave your comments here so i can decide what i want!
I just dont wanna buy something i dont want!

but if u think there are no digital four tracks out there for under £500 then u should do some research!
for starters theres fostex fd8vl,yamaha md4s/md8, roland vs840, korg d8, tascam 564.... the list goes on but wat am i telling u for?! go do ur own research!
i need a kind hearted soul who already knows all this stuff to help me! Please..

editing options are non existant here, but have you considered a used adat and mixing desk? i paid a total of a $1300 aussie dollars for an adat xt and a behringer 2004... thats about 400 u.k pounds then you have a bit of cash left for a compressor or mutli fx..... that would solve your removalbe data issue, and it would also give you that analog mixer your after (even if it is a behri, its still probably better than most of those all in one units)... just a suggestion

I'll give you the best advice possible. Forget about the four track and look into a DAW or 8track system. 4tracks will get old very quick.

Have you checked out Ebay???

D*,

Check out Ebay, you could probably pick a used 8 track for close to what you want to spend. The advice that Tex gave is good advice. especially if you want to do stereo mixes. You can use up 4 tracks in a big hurry. Because the cost of new products coming out are getting cheaper, you can get something half way decent that is only a couple of years old.

Good luck
Joe
