I'm in a process of burning my audios to CD.
In Sornar I did File/Export Audio and give my file a name.
From there I guess I could burn the wave file onto CD using CD burner that comes with XP (I think).
When I play the wave file, I think I kinda lost the volume though. Why!!!!

1. But isn't that pretty much what's invoved in producing a CD?
2. Why and when would I need extranal programs like CoolEdit pro?
3. Do I need Pyro?
4. Also is it possible to name my audio tracks individually on CD?
5. How would I insert 10 second gap between each tracks?
6. What CDR brand should I use?

Thanks you so much.

1. No. You left out the step called Mastering.
2. I'm not sure about CoolEdit, but I find having a program like Wavelab valuable to master my tracks.
3. I believe Pyro is a CD burning program. I am not sure what Win XP's CD burning capablities are, but they are probably somewhat limited. If you want to do things like set specific pauses between tracks, cross fades between tracks, create track markers in the middle of a song, etc. etc., you should have a good CD burning program. Again, I find Wavelab great for this also.
4. Not sure what you mean. If you mean where the name of the tracks and/or artist shows up on your CD player's display, your burner and software need to support CD Text.
5. With good CD burning software.
6. Find a name brand that works well with your burner and stick to it. There's too many variables to make a definitive recommendation. Stay away from no name generics. You'll need a little trial and error here, so don't buy a 50 or 100 pack until you're satisfied that the brand works with your equipment. Test to make sure it burns without problems, and then play the finished product on as many systems as you can to be sure it plays OK. After that, buy the 100 pack. :)

So how much does wavelab cost?

I saw one at zzounds.com: Steinberg Wavelab Version 3.0 (Windows CDROM): $429.

Is that the one you're referring to? It's kinda expensive.

How long does it take to master the software?

I'm not necessarily pimping for Wavelab. It just happens to be the program that I like. The current version is 4.0 and it does run around $400.

Another choice is Sound Forge, which is cheaper, but I don't think it has CD burning capabilities. I'm sure there are others as well (maybe Cool Edit Pro, I just don't happen to be familiar with its capabilities).

You can also master in Sonar - although it's really more a multi-tracking, recording, midi sequencing program, and also doesn't have CD burning ability. However, it can be used for mastering.

Lastly, there is always the choice of having your stuff professionally mastered (and many on this bbs will tell you that is the ONLY way to master something). You can probably get a CD professionally mastered for under $500.

I master in sound forge and then burn my cd's using EZ cd creator, I get great results this way. And dachay2tnr pretty much answered everything U need to know!!!

Well first you get some gas and then some matches......
oh I'm sorry, thats not the kind of burning you were talking about.:(
