Hi, I am new to this forum and could REALLY use some help in eliminating the Loud Popping noises between the CD Tracks after I burn them. I don't know what's causing these LOUD POPS to appear. They only play if you are listening continuously at the changeover between two tracks, not when you go right TO the track. It's the WEIRDEST thing!

I just mixed down an "album" of qigong music with narration on my Roland VS-880. Then I made Mini-disc masters. These tracks were recorded to my new computer via a SoundBlasterLIVE audio card. I have a 40gb main drive & a 75gb media HD, TWO 800 PIIIs and 512mb of RAM.

I used GOLDWAVE as a wav editor to separate one track into two tracks. I also used it to add simple fade-ins and outs. Once the tracks were prepared, I used "NTI CD-Maker 2000 Plus" which came with my CREATIVE CD Burner to arrange and burn the CD at 12x.

I am about up to HERE in coasters!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

That you're hearing the 'pop' only between two songs, and not in the beginning of one, then I think it's in the END of every song.

You could try the following; before burning it to cd, make a fade-out on the last second of every track. Then the last sound on the track will be not hearable, and so could be the 'pop'.

Don't know if it works, I hadn't had a problem like that before, but I hope this helps a bit.

Greetings.
Maarten.

LOUD POP Between Tracks

Thanks for the suggestion. I THINK I tried that, but I will go through all the tracks and make CERTAIN I have applied fades at the tail of each track.

A friend also suggested that I try burning CDRWs until I figure this out, so last night I went out and bought a few.

Another Idea. Do you think it may have something to do with the software I got with the CD burner? It's called: "NTI CD-Maker 2000 Plus" which came with my CREATIVE 12x/10/32 CD Burner. It's an IDE type hook-up.

I read somewhere in a long CD Burning FAQ that most programs insert 2 seconds of silent audio between tracks to avoid pops, but mine doesn't seem to be inserting this 2 seconds of silence. hummmmmm.

Maybe those 2 seconds is an option, you've got to enable that.

I use WinonCd, a not so expensive cd-burner, very stable, without Pops :)

You could try that.
