Just got a pair of JBL LSR25 powered monitors and have set up adjoining my workstation and monitor. Routing audio via a Mackie 1402 using XLR cables.

The JBL's are producing quite a hum( I have turned off the various sources and determined JBLs to be the source of humming). Any way to quiet the added noise? I was under the impression these monitors were shielded and able to be placed near workstations. Am I missing something?

Thanks

Double check all your cables. Try switching them around some to make sure one isnt bad. You may have a ground loop. Make sure that all connected audio gear is plugged into the same electrical circuit. In many houses you need to plug everything into strips connected to one outlet in order to prevent ground loops.

what kind off lights do you have in your studio? if they are folresent, then they can cause hum. i have aguitar amp in my studio that is making hum, but when i turn the lights off the hum stops. try that and if that is the troble, then you may have to get new lights or just move your recording stuff.
