Help! I need to continuously re-install my soundcard!

I just got an Edirol UA-25 USB sound card to use with my Toshiba laptop. Installation seemed to run smoothly, except now everytime I re-plug-in my USB wire to record, it won't recognize the soundcard and I need to re-install it for every recording session. What's going on?

with USB devices like external hard drives and sound cards, you should plug them in to the same USB port every time ... (I assume you're on XP?)
OR plug it in before you turn the computer on
