IM running my signals thru a Presonus Firepod(interface) to my pc. It has 8 mic/line ins & outs, but I want to pull 16 tracks out of my pc and in to my mixer for eq ing and effects. How can I add an x-tra 8 outs to my set up with out having to buy another interface? The unit must stay compatible with my Presonus Firepod, and the Cubase software.
The help and advice will be very appreciated!! :D

Yeah, like Mad Audio said, you are going to have to buy another IO.

OK, then what is the most cost efficient I/O that will work side by side with my interface, an possibly stay in the 24bit/96k range? If down grading the connection to a lower bit will save me $100 bucks then that’s cool.
thanx again for your time

From what I've read, the Firepod uses a FireWire connection for the word clock. You'd need to find an interface that has that in order to sync the units together. Without the units in sync, you're gonna have problems with playback.

doesn't the firepod have some sort of ADAT digital I/O? if not maybe you could get something along that line and send out 8 channels of 24 bit/48 khz to your mixer. I don't have much experience with digital so i don't know.

seriously.
why can't you just send each track (one at a time)
out the line out of the Firepod ->
into your mixer ->
add the amount of EQ/fx you want ->
out the mixer's line out ->
into your firepod (onto a new ch./trk) ->
and record that.

then you'll have the original track on one channel in Cubase
and the new EQ'ed one on a different channel.

no?
yes?

Potentially you could install an M Audio deltat1010LT pci card, sync it to the firepod via s/pdif, and get another 8 ins/8 outs that way.

Just a theory though. The LT's are only $220

so does that mean a mixer like the Tascam US-2400 wouldn't work because it's USB? Or does even involve word clocks?
