Help: How to Get This Guitar Sound

Hey guys,

I need your help to figure out how to achieve a guitar sound I love. Check out the video below, specifically the guitar solo that starts at 0:36 mins (I know, it's the "Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs" theme song, please don't judge :D).

How do they get this chorus-like effect? It sounds like multiple guitars playing in unison or something. Or is this a chorus effect with one voice a fifth or an octave above the root? I can't seem to figure out what's going on here.

If you know, please help :).

Thanks a lot!

Two lead guitar tracks - some kind of harmony. I go by ear so I'd just figure it out by listening to it. Probably some thirds and fifths.

I tried it with a fifth above the root using a pitch shifter in Logic and that seems to get me closer to the sound. I can't tell if this is all that's to it, but I'm still far from getting a very similar sound. Part of the reason might be that I have different amp settings from the ones in the song to begin with, so naturally I won't sound the same even if I get the chorus effect right, but I still feel I'm missing something crucial of the effect here. I'll try other things like slightly detuning one of the two lead tracks.

If you have more ideas, please let know.

Ooh! I've just found this:

It IS indeed a parallel minor third or fifth that creates the effect. But: how does he play it like that in a live setting? What effect does he use that gives him the simultaneous fifth or octave? What is it called?

You are looking for a harmonizer or a pitch shifter. There are pedals that do just that. Parallel 5ths are easy to do with those. 3rds are a bigger problem
