Help!!!! Gt Pro

Hi,

I recently purchased A Boss GT Pro,I am totally useless with this thing,First of all when i change from one patch to the other the difference in Volume can be ear shattering and i cant seem to find where it can be adjusted.
Secondly with it i purchased the FC300 Midi Pedals I sort of got it going but the actual patch names do not come up do any of you know how this is done?
Remeber i am a complete dummy on this.Thirdly is it normal to have so much hum with the Pre amp on? I know you can lower the gain but in doing so you loose that grunge.
If any of you guys can help me with some setting it will be greatly appreciated.
PS I either use a PRS 513,PRS Singlecut ,or Strats through a fender twin or Boogie road king

each patch has its own volume settings

read the manual to find them and adjust to taste

try recording some licks cause you can get used to using too much gain with boss units

a little goes a long way

its easy to set gains on 33 or 66 or whatever on the pedal sims when 3 or 7 is sufficient

it may make your legato techniques easier but too much gain doesnt sound good when mixing time comes

boss units usually sound like mosquitoes on steroids with the gains too high
