HELP! Fostex multitrack...stuck?

A friend of mine decided on an X-15 4-track...cassette recorder...he put the cassette in the 4 track..it locked into place...but now it won't unlock...what's the deal? He can't remove the cassette...and I'm new to multitrack recording and have only used digital recorders..

Sounds like the Pause or Record buttons are down. To disengage pause press it again. to disengage record press stop. I used to have an X-15, loved it.
