Greetings,

I'm new to this field. I'm using Home Studio 2004, and I have one problem: When overdubbing mutiple tracks, how does one use different patches for each track? When I record using one patch, then record another track trying to use another patch, the first track changes to the patch used on the second track. I'm trying to use different sounds on each track. Relevant equipment includes the Yamaha S03 synth, and the Tascam US-122 interface. Thank you VERY much for any help!

You must assign every patch to a different midi channel output.
I'm assuming your Yamaha is GM compatible and therefore supports sixteen channels of midi.
So if the piano is on CH1,then the bass should be on CH2,the next instrument CH3.

Your keyboard also can transmit on sixteen channels,so you have otions.Either record from seperate channels,or switch the output after recording.
If this is confusing, open up a midi file in HS and route the outputs to your Yamaha, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks to both Acid and Spin. That did the trick!

Terrible to feel so compentent as a conductor, and so useless in this area! But that's how one learns, right?

Thanks again,
Jenn

Well that's quite understandable. Collecting train tickets doesn't really have much in common with music, does it?

Kidding. :D :D
