Hi,
I have recorded some songs and want to send them via drop box to another person to have the track mastered but i am unsure of which files from the protools 9 folder i need to send?
i have,

audio files
plu-in settings
The actual Protools session
session back up files
master.ptx
wavecache.wfm
rendered files
fade files

Thanks

WAV, files 44.8 sample rate 24 bit, or 16 is fine might wanna ask your mastering eng what bit depth and resolution

I'm not familiar with Pro Tools, but you'd want to send him everything you can think of that is used in the project. I'd send everything you stated, and if he doesn't need them, he doesn't have to use them.

No worries, and send them at what you recorde them at

You want to send stereo mixdowns - 24-bit wordlength at whatever sample rate you're working in. Simple, stereo, 24-bit PCM data, one file per track (song) and that's it.

Nothing else if you can help it. Do NOT send in all your project files, session files, individual tracks, etc., etc., etc. (unless you really, really want to start off on the wrong foot with the engineer).

(EDIT)

I would go as far as to say that you should send the files named with specific data -- Example:

01_SongTitle_ArtistName.wav
02_SongTitle_ArtistName.wav
03_SongTitle_ArtistName.wav

You could add even more info --

04_SongTitle_ArtistName_24-44.wav (adding the bit depth and sample rate - although generally not necessary, it doesn't hurt).

But long story short -- If you're sending in 5 songs, you should be sending in 5 files - Not everything it took to get those 5 mixes...

Export to interleaved stereo PCM data -- I would hope it would go without saying that there should be no limiter or excessive compression on the main buss and that there should be at least some clear headroom.

UNLESS you're getting stem mastering done in which case you should send a stereo track and a list of what you recorded:
OHL Tom1 Tom 2 Tom3 Snare, Kick OHR
Bass
GTR 1
Gtr 2
bvox i
bvaox 2
etc etc
So that the ME can determine what stems are required which you would send using a naming convention not unlike that described by Mr massive.
