Help choosing Monitor amps

I'm still trying to choose my first pair of Monitors. I think that I want to go in the direction of Passive. . .or should I really just go with a pair of powered monitors for my first time. . .

Anyway, are there any monitor amps out there in the $100-150. range. -- Its okay to roll your eyes and think 'You're dreamin' dude' lo.l I was just wondering. . . .

. . either new or on eBay ( I don't have a problem with used equipment)

can someone list a few monitor amps in the price range of $100- 200. If there is such a price range for amps? Thanks!
 
The two that come to mind are Alesis and Samson amps I think you should be able to find them new for around the price range your looking at.
