HELP! My Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96 won't work!!! I just got my computer back from my tech. We added a larger hard drive and i'm installing everything again. When i put the disk that came with my Aardvark into the drive it freezes the machine up and won't work at all, so i put it in another machine and it did the same, which leads me to believe the disk is bad. OK...no problem. Went to the Aardvark website and downloaded the installer thingy...ran that...and NO AARDVARK...it's like my computer has NO idea that the Aardvark soundcard exists. It's trying but keeps giving me the following error message when i double click on the shortcut:

No Aardvark Cards were found in the system

So then i thought maybe the card got jostled while the computer was being worked on, so i took the card out, and re-inserted it into the pci slot. STILL doesn't work. Before i get the run around from Aardvark tech support, (according to them this product ALWAYS functions perfectly) i decided to ask if anyone else had a similar problem, or any advice...HELP!!! I'm dead in the water without my Aardvark...no keyboard, no guitar, no bass, no vocals...HEEEELLLPPPP!!!!

Try removing the card and booting into Windows without it. Then shut down, fit the card and try again.
Does the Aardvark disk include an uninstaller .exe? If so, run it before attempting to reinstall.
If you don't have WinXP on a recent system, you could try a different pci slot. XP seems a lot better than previous Windows at avoiding conflicts between devices and provided you installed XP in its default ACPI mode, a modern mobo will provide up to 24 IRQs. Even so, its probably not a good idea to put an audio card in the pci slot next to the AGP video.
If the problem is caused by an IRQ conflict (unlikely if you have XP), moving to another pci slot may well cure your woes.

I think its good pratice to install Windows without the card (or anything that Windows doesn't have built in drivers). With the card in the machine, Windows installer seems to hide the device and you can get the problem of the card not being found automatically. When this happens, you have to try to get Windows to detect the card again. It should do this if you remove, run and then replace as I suggested.

IT WORKED!!!

I switched slots, reinstalled, rebooted (twice)...PHEW!!! That was no laughing matter. THANKS!!! I'm back...I'mMMMBBBAAACCKKKK...oooh that's a good feeling. Everything running smmmoooottthhh! Thanks all!

That's good.

I thought I was going to have to bring the "guru", DJ KIDD over to your house.
