Totally new to computer recoding. I have put together what I believe to be a fairly sweet rig. Heres my gear: Apple dual 2ghz G5 w/ 4GBs ram, PreSonus Firepod, M-Audio BX8 Monitors, Juno-D synth, Behringer T1952 tube compressor, other gear not crucial to my setup. I have MOTU Digital Performer 4.52 on my computer. Im having a huge problem figuring out how to succesfully connect all of this stuff within the DP software. The synth works fully in garage band (MIDI) so I know that I hooked that up correctly. However, there is no choice for Juno-D in the model list in the core audio midi setup tool. Is this a problem? If so how do I get around this? WHen I open DP nothing seems to be functioning properly. I can record but I hear nothing out of the mons until I play it back. And this is only after playing around with the inputs and outputs on the software until I get lucky. Definately not correct. The Synth comes up in DP but there are no patches. Similar to the audio when I record I can see the information being recorded ont he computer btu cannot hear anything. With the MIDI however I cant even hear anythign when playign back. Any DP experts out there that can tell me how I should set all this up within DP????? And if the lack of JUno-D in the OSX MIDI setup tool is a problem. THANKS SO MUCH

I use DP, but not for MIDI, so no ideas on that problem, personally. That said, I can offer a couple of suggestions for places to get help on the subject, just in case nobody else has any ideas, either....
There are some DP forums on groups.yahoo.com that would probably be better places to ask this question. I think one is "Digital Performer" and the other is motu-mac or mac-motu or something. The latter requires email confirmation, so you'll know it if you find the right one. Also check out the unicornation board (www.unicornation.com, I think).
You need to read the manual. Seriously, all the routing setup procedures are covered really well, the MOTU manuals are some of the best out there in my opinion.
But assuming that you have the routing set up properly, here's one thing to try:
Go to the "Studio" menu and select "Audio Monitor". In the menu bar of the window that comes up you see a little headphones icon. Make sure that is selected.
In the OSX Core Midi application you can set up your own instrument for the Juno-D. So just click on "Add Device". Double click on the new device and select the manufacturer, then type in whatever name you want for the synth. Finally, make sure that the device is connected to the correct midi I/O.
Pretty sure I have audio working now but Im still having MIDI issues through DP. MIDI works awesome through garage band so I know its a DP related issue. ANy advice??
